KITCHENER - Barrie Colts goalie Arturs Silovs has made his NHL debut for the Nashville Predators, becoming the first Latvian-born goaltender to play in the league. The 23-year-old rookie made 31 saves in the Predators' 5-2 victory over the Vegas Golden Knights on Tuesday night.

Silovs' Journey to the NHL

Silovs, a native of Riga, Latvia, began his career with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In his draft-plus-one year with the Colts, he played 36 games and helped the team reach the OHL championship series. He was drafted by the Predators in the fourth round (111th overall) of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.

After spending the 2020-21 season with the Milwaukee Admirals, the Predators' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, Silovs made his NHL debut on Tuesday night. He impressed in his first start, making several key saves and helping the Predators secure a victory.
